An on-line magazine editor needs a photo to illustrate an upcoming article on anonymity on the internet. The image must show a person, but intentionally not show their features. The image should not be artistic, but more journalistic.

I think this is a very exiting challenge. It's obvious that you can't use a normal more artistic photo recorded for the visuel sake alone. You have to interpret
the issue for the challenge.

An on-line magazine is doing an article about being anonymous on the internet. The "editor" needs a photo to illustrate the article. Obviously, the photo should show someone being anonymous. Ideally, the anonymous person should be accessing a computer.

just my opinion, two of the most important things to consider to stay anonymous on the internet are your name and your picture. With social networking sites being the in thing among netizens, an unrecognizable profile pic should be a must to stay anonymous on the net. I think this is more to the point rather than a picture of a person accessing a computer.

I would rather say the profile picture should be recognizable to those who know you... But strangers should not be able to link the picture to you.
e.g techniques could be
1. applying one of the artistic filters in gimp,
2. blurring,
3. standing in shadows
4. standing with the light behind you.
5. ???
