Submit a photograph of a large animal in the wild. These will typically be taken with long telephoto lenses.

Processing rules:

Minimal post-processing. This challenge is mainly an exercise in straight photography.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Fast telephoto lenses are usually required: 300mm or longer on a 35mm camera is typical.
Avoid blur -- typically use a shutter speed double the equivalent 35mm focal length of the lens. You may need to boost your ISO setting.
Dawn and dusk are usually the best times to see wildlife, but this makes photography all the more difficult.
Be extremely patient.
Learn about the habits and habitats of the wildlife in your region. Ask local experts such as naturalists, hunters, or park rangers.
Stay hidden from the animals; shooting from a prone position or from an automobile is recommended. Stepping out of an automobile will often spook an animal.
Car windows can screen you from wildlife, and the window edge can be used to stabilize your camera.
Be very quiet.
Don't approach the animal, causing them to flee. Use a long lens or wait for the animal to come to you.
Note: future challenges in this series will focus on small animal macro shots and bird photography.

A lot of great Photo's... But im afraid some people don't pay attn to detail... Since the contest is for large animals in nature...

Does it have to be in the wild, or are pics from a zoo acceptable as long as it's not obviously from a zoo?

No zoos, but large parks would be OK, where the animals freely roam, and there are no safety barriers between the photographer and the animals.

Birds and crocodiles are acceptable.

However, this is mainly a large animal challenge. I'll be hosting upcoming challenges on small wild animals and birds later.
