Photography is more than just an art form; rather it also has great importance in science, industry, and government. Submit a photograph that has scientific or technological importance: consider astrophotography, photomicrography, or other photos with scientific, industrial, or technological interest. Just because a photograph has scientific interest, that does not mean that it must not be a striking and memorable image in its own right.

Processing rules:

Post process the image to the degree that is acceptable for the type of photograph you are submitting.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Additional rules:

Submit an image of primarily scientific, technical, or industrial interest.
Do not neglect the aesthetics of the image: consider that your voters may not be viewing your image scientifically.
Include a description of your subject, and perhaps discuss your image's scientific value.
Be aware that many viewers may not be predisposed to view images of a medical or forensic nature, so please don't submit these.
