Sony

Now it's been confirmed what has been floating around the web for a few hours already. At its 9am press conference has announced the development of its contribution to the (still relatively new) segment of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The camera is at this point still unnamed but, just like its DSLR siblings, carries Sony's Alpha badge. The mockup on the stand is a very early concept model, revealing just the shape and no clues about what mount will be used (the model doesn't have a real mount).

There will also be a new series of Alpha DSLRs which feature a 1080p capable sensor. They will be released during the course of this year.

Also on the stand are the company's broad range of W, T and H series of compacts, slim compacts and compact superzoom cameras. THere are various displays letting people have a try with the cameras' sweep panorama functions as well as demonstrations of the capabilities of back-lit CMOS technology.
