 Sony
The Sony stand concentrates to a large extent on the company's compact cameras with the new HX1 being afforded plenty of space and demonstration opportunities. Its sweep panorama feature and high-speed shooting capability in particular can be experienced and the company seems confident enough of its abilities that it is lined-up alongside the latest Alpha DSLRs in a basketball demonstration.
The Alpha system is also well represented, from the entry-level A200 up to the high-resolution, full-frame A900 and a broad array of accessories and lenses. The complete selection of Alpha lenses is present, including Sony G and Zeiss branded models. Catching a lot of attention are the selection of concept lenses on show. Sony stresses that these are only intended to demonstrate the possibilities of the lens system, rather than representing models that will definitely be launched. The 50mm F1.8, 30mm F2.8 Macro, DT 18-55 F3.5-5.6, DT 55-200 4-5.8, 28-75 F2.8 all seem like logical additions to the range but it's the vast, un-badged lens in signature Sony G silver, described only as a 'supertelephoto lens' that most catches the eye.
All the other recent Cyber-shots are also on show, from the W-series compacts and T-series 'card' cameras, through to the H-series superzooms and the recent, US-only G3 wi-fi enabled compact with a built-in web browser to increase online photo uploading capability.
