Sony

No official word about what Sony intends to do with its newly-acquired (from Konica Minolta) digital SLR division at PMA 2006, but lots of new compacts on show, from the S600 and M2 (originally announced at CES) to the six models launched yesterday at PMA. Getting the most interest are the new 'super zoom' cameras, the H2 and H5, though the revamped Cyber-Shot W range, comprising the W30, W50, W70 and W100 is a big improvement on its predecessor. We were fairly impressed too, with the HDPS-L1, also announced yesterday. This 80GB hard disk attaches to an HD television and stores (and displays) your images, has a USB port and card slots and is very neat. We were disappointed it doesn't have better connectivity (no networking, no direct-print, no direct connection to cameras), but for $300 it's a neat design that may help bring digital photography into the living room.
