Olympus

Although Olympus has little new for PMA (having used CES to announce most of its 2006 range), there’s no denying that the E-330 is one of the few products at the show to be really drawing in the crowds, many getting their first chance to see the world’s first live-view digital SLR. Of course after this morning's joint press conference with Panasonic and Leica, the Four Thirds system is getting a lot of attention at a PMA fairly short on big news, and we'll be interested to see how the E-330 and the Panasonic L1 compare, given the amount of shared technology and components (the only real difference being the image processing). On a side note Olympus has confirmed that the new Leica image-stabilized lens will work on its E-System bodies (though only 'mode 1' - on all the time) stabilization.

Elsewhere there’s plenty of minor updates to existing models, from the entry-level FE range (FE-140, FE-130, FE-115) and the very cute - and very slim - Stylus 710 (which appears to be the same camera as the Stylus 700 outside the US). Visitors who fancy getting their hands wet can try the new waterproof Stylus 720 SW.
