 Canon
No surprises here – the PMA line-up announced last week features heavily on Canon’s huge stand, which as always is one of the busiest at the show.
In the absence of a major digital SLR launch (the 30D can’t really be considered anything more than a minor upgrade to the 20D, but is still drawing crowds) attention is focused on the raft of new compacts, many featuring high ISO options for the first time.
Amongst the models getting their first public airing are the much-anticipated S3 IS (successor to the popular S2 IS), which looks a lot more serious thanks to the new ‘gunmetal’ finish, and the very sweet new SD 700 IS (Ixus 800 IS), the first Canon ultra compact to feature optical image stabilization.
Also on show are four new ‘A’ series cameras – the A530, A540, A430 and A700; the latter being the most interesting thanks to its 6x zoom lens (the first of the budget A cameras to feature such a large zoom).
Finally there's plenty of Pixma printers, and a live demo of wi-fi capture and printing.
