Canon

Inevitably Canon is one of the busiest stands, thanks mainly to the public debut of the EOS Rebel XT / 350D. The new 8MP compact SLR is probably the single product that is causing the biggest buzz at the show, and we got to try it with the BG-E3 grip for the first time; very nice. On the compact side PMA 2005 is the first chance most people have had to see the new Digital Elph SD500 (Ixus 700) - a 7 megapixel addition to the hugely popular range. It's a little larger than the other Ixus models, but is still remarkably slim, and sports a 2.0 inch LCD, Digic II processor and 60 fps movie mode. The other new Ixus / Elph, the SD400 (Ixus 50) is a straighforward upgrade to the SD300, adding a 2.0-inch screen and 5MP sensor.

Last but not least are the two upgrades to the best-selling A series cameras, the 3.2 megapixel A510 and 4.0 megapixel A520. Both cameras sport fixed 1.8-inch LCD screens, 4x zoom lenses, Digic processors and 9-point AiAF focusing.
