Sony

Sony were once again on impressive form, a logically designed stand separated the various product groups. Before the show Sony announced no less than five new digital cameras, two of which were CD Mavica's (the CD400 & CD250) and three lower-end Cybershot's (P31, P51 and P71). Also there with a strong presence were the new 'Micro MV' digital camcorders and the various DPP dye-sub photo printers. Of special interest is the DPP-SV88, designed to fit into your regular home entertainment system it has a TV Out for connection to your TV, several input slots (PCMCIA, Memory Stick etc.), a 4x6" dye-sub printer for immediate prints and a CD-R/RW drive for both storage of images from Flash cards as well as reading and display of CD Mavica discs.

Sony also had an interesting 'darkened room' with black curtains, this designed to demonstrate the ability of their laser 'Hologram AF' to focus even in complete darkness. No sign of 256 or 512 MB Memory Sticks though...

Toshiba

Toshiba introduced three new cameras at PMA. The PDR-3300 is a high featured relatively compact three megapixel digital camera with the same 2.8x optical zoom lens we saw on Olympus's C-40Z/D-40Z. The PDR-3310 is designed to be an ultra-compact three megapixel with a 3x zoom lens. The PDR-T10 is a two megapixel fixed lens digital camera with interchangeable face plates (just like some mobile phones) and a pretty unique touch-screen operation.
