Nikon

Although there's plenty of visitor interest in the D3 and D700 full frame siblings it's the new D90 (and its new 18-105mm VR kits lens) that is drawing the crowds on Nikon's very busy and very yellow stand - all anxious to take the world's first (but no longer the only) DSLR with a movie mode for a spin. This is also the first showing for the string of Coolpix compact camera updates announced at the start of August. Starting at the top with the new flagship, the Coolpix P6000 builds on the formula established with the P5000 / P5100 adding even more pixels (now 13.5 million). It also adds built-in GPS and a nice 28-112 mm zoom range but it's the raw output, now supported by Adobe Camera Raw, that caught our eyes. Below this are the five 'S' series Coolpix models announced at the same time; the S710, S610/610c, S560 and S60.

Vast iMacs browsing Nikon's mypicturetown website struck an odd contrast with the premium-grade lenses (400mm F2.8 and 500mm F4), being demonstrated alongside.
