Sigma

Obviously the big news on the Sigma booth is the long-awaited new digital SLR, the SD14. We got our first hands-on look at the nice-looking SD14 and the surprisingly small DP1 compact, which is only on display behind glass at Photokina - can't wait to get a working one to try out. Both cameras share the same, new Foveon X3 sensor (2652 x 1768 x 3) for 14MP output. The SD14 is being put through its paces by a 'top' german photographer on the booth (who appears to like it, though as he was speaking entirely in German we can't be 100% sure) - surprise surprise he's shooting a scantily clad young lady.

Plenty of new lenses here to try, including the 8mm F3.5 EX DG fisheye, 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC and the very compact 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 DC with optical image stabilization. There are also four new lenses for the Four-Thirds mount, including the mammoth 300-800mm f5.6.
