Pentax

One of the highlights of the show is the first public outing for the latest addition to Pentax's digital SLR lineup, the K10D, with 10 megapixels, CCD-shift image stabilization and dust reduction. It's a nice looking camera, and those trying it out in the hands-on display seemed to agree it had excellent handling. In the 'behind glass' section we got our first glimpse of the three new pro lenses (DA* 16-50 mm F2.8 ED, DA* 50-135 mm F2.8 ED, DA* 60-250 mm F4.0 ED) and - once again - the 645 Digital, which seems no nearer to actual production than it was at PMA. On the compact side there's the recent range refresh (Optio A20, M20, W20 and S7) - all nice-looking, well built cameras. We were fascinated by the 'Pentax Design Studio' display of mockup concept models including the ultra-compact 'Digital K' SLR from 1997 - a 'headless' K mount body with no viewfinder and a live view LCD.

Update: after a meeting with Pentax we've been told that the 645 Digital is now going to feature a 30 million pixel sensor, but still no idea on timing.
