Mamiya

One of the few surprises of this Photokina is the Mamiya ZD - a 'medium format' digital SLR with a whopping 22 megapixel 48x36mm CCD. Design-wise the ZD is fairly similar to existing digital SLRs, though considerably bigger. It's pretty light at 1.2Kg and handles surprisingly well. The body, which is not expected to arrive until the end of the year at the latest, accepts Mamiya 645AF lenses. Also announced was a digital back for the 645AF and RZ67 PRo II D featuring the same 22mp chip. No word on pricing for either unit - see the main news page for full spec and more pictures.
