Pre Capture

Interesting concept, once enabled the camera is constantly capturing frames if you half-press the shutter release, when the action occurs and you fully press the shutter release the last 5 images captured are immediately saved along with as many frames as you take from that point. In theory, you'd never miss the action. This works for Single or Drive shooting.

If I shoot anything interesting using pre capture in the short time I have the E-100RS I'll put a sample here.

In use

Switch the camera into drive mode and press the shutter release and the camera will start capturing frame after frame.. At 3 and 5 frames/sec you can hear the mechanical shutter click-click'ing the frames, at 7.5 and 15 frames/sec it's obvious that the camera is using an electronic shutter (there's no sound), it's almost like recording a video at full resolution (remember most digicams can't capture faster than 3 fps at full res). At 15 fps you can capture 30 frames, or 2 seconds of action. And that then takes about 8 seconds to write out to a storage card.

The viewfinder works well, based on a 0.556" LCD you can switch image displayed in the viewfinder or the rear LCD (but not both). To sum up, it's a very fast, robust digital camera with lots and lots of features which would make it the perfect choice for people with a need for a fast camera with a long zoom but no worries about the small image size.

Final Word

To sum up, it's a very fast, robust digital camera with lots and lots of features which would make it the perfect choice for people with a need for a fast camera with a long zoom but no worries about the small image size.
