I have 3 tripods and a monopod .. they have different heads, although I am more into ball-socket heads these days .. My problem was not having them or using them indoors but carrying them about, especially in travel

Shutter speed makes very little difference to shots with flash .. it is more about how far the subject (double the distance you get 1/4 the light or the inverse square law), what ISO and most importantly what aperture .. while shutter speed only alters how the ambient light is captured ..

If you are on a budget then a cropped sensor body .. and add the full frame in the future .. simply because the full frame gives you higher IQ, better low light performance and shallower DOF
