The mechanism which makes the G1 X Mark II's LCD screen tiltable adds some bulk to the rear of the camera, as you can see in this view. Nonetheless, the camera doesn't feel 'big' considering the fact that it's packing a 1.5 inch sensor.
Ergonomically, the G1 X Mark II is similiar to other recent G-series compacts from Canon, especially the PowerShot G16. This view shows the hotshoe which can be used with any compatible flash or the optional $299 electronic viewfinder.
