A press release that appeared on Canon Japan's website today indicates that Canon will be upgrading its Digital Photo Professional and EOS Utility applications. According to this translation, DPP will be a 'significant' upgrade and will be available free as of June 26th. The automatic translation, as is often the case, is not entirely clear but it seems the program will add new color analysis and adjustment tools and allow greater adjustments in RAW images to highlights, shadows and image quality as well as lens correction tool.

The release indicates that the user interface to DPP will be updated and function buttons on the interface will be programmable to allow for different functionality. EOS Utility will be updated to version 3.0, and will work in conjunction with DPP 4 for remote shooting into the Digital Photo Professional workspace.

Both programs will be available for Windows 7/8/8.1 and Mac OS X 10.8 and 10.9. The update will include compatibility for the Canon EOS-1D X, EOS 1-D C, EOS 5D Mark III and EOS 6D.
