Better known for his roles in iconic movies such as Easy Rider and Blue Velvet, Hopper was a keen photographer between 1950 and 1967, and reportedly used a Nikon F throughout much of the 1960s. Naturally, he turned his lens on his co-stars and friends from the movie, art and fashion worlds of the time, but also worked in a documentary style to cover social and political stories of the day – such as the Civil Rights movement, Martin Luther King, Hells Angels and the lives of American hippies.

Dennis Hopper: The Lost Album will be held from 26th June to 19th October at The Royal Academy, London, and is sponsored by Nikon UK
