The Art Room. Cincinnati's public library was one of the first in the country to offer Sunday hours, opening its reading rooms from 8 AM to 10 PM. Librarian at the time William F. Poole described its success: "many of that class of young men who [had previously] strolled about the streets on Sunday, and spent the day in a less profitable manner, [began] habitually frequenting the rooms and spending a portion of the day in reading."
