Things they carried: Thom Atkinson's 'Soldiers' Inventories'

Are these real artifacts (well, minus the food), and how did you acquire them?

With the exception of the modern day picture which was made with the help of the Royal Engineers, the artefacts are all owned by members of various re-enactment and living history groups. The objects in the more modern periods are mainly vintage with the odd reproduction here and there. As you go back further into history the objects are more often reproductions made by the re-enactors after a great deal of research. It's amazing - there are actually armorers and sword makers who specialise in making reproductions.
