What Are The Contents Of A Green Screen Kit?

Green screen kits are used in the photography field to super-impose a picture on a background. A camera person shoots the subject against the green screen and uploads the captured picture to the computer. Here, the background in green color is removed & replaced with another picture background. In this article, read about what are the components of these photography kits. The kits are available containing green screen and other photography items which a photographer needs. A green screen kit is complete if it contains at least these elements:

Green Screen Kit

1. Green screen
2. Background support
3. 2 background lights

1. Green screen

Green screen is available in different sizes & different materials. Finding the right green screen is important so as to get the accurate results.

Size – The size of the screen depends upon what is to be shot. For instance – a small screen of 5X5 feet works well for head shots, but it is too small for shooting with the whole person. For shooting a whole person against the green screen, look for bigger screens. Set up the scene roughly and take a trial run. Look through the camera’s viewfinder & check the scene’s edges where they are. The green screen must be larger than the scene. The green screen kits for video generally contain green screens of very big sizes, so as to cover many subjects at a time.

Material – The green screen must be made up of a tightly woven fabric like canvas or muslin… this will serve the best as this will be easy to store and transport. Also, the fabric must not allow the light to pass through it. The problem with fabric green screen is that it wrinkles easily & needs ironing to hang straight. Thus, an alternative is to use paper backdrops. Paper backdrops are available in a roll & these are ideal, because these are easy to use & are not prone to creasing. The problem with these backdrops is that they cannot be reused. The permanent setup can be green screen paint. Just paint the wall with the right chroma key color and it is done.

2. Background Support

It is the support system from where the background is hanged. It can be complex or simple, but the idea is the same. It consists of the rods which are supported by uprights. The background supports of professional quality are good to use.

3. Lights

Professional quality lights are best to use in commercial photography. These are available as a part of the green screen kits.
