We Still Need A Contax G2 Digital

I learned photography on totally manual film cameras.  For a long time I used and loved the Contax line.  Manual focus but Zeiss glass.   My favorite camera of all was the Contax G2.  Beautiful build, auto focus, superb handling, unobtrusive, and those wonderful little Zeiss lenses.  I am still looking for a replacement in digital.  No, I cannot afford a Leica.  For those who remember, the G2 was a strong competitor to the Leica--at an affordable price.  Amazing images from the little G2.  You could also buy a Hasselblad X-Pan back then.  No, Fujifilm is not there yet.  Getting close, maybe.  Zeiss Ikon Digital, where are you?

Valuable thoughts and advices. I read your topic with great interest. They say they’ve been taxed and regulated to death for decades, and they have no choice but to do what they can to claw their way back into profitability.

To me, for all intents and purposes, the Fuji X-Pro1 is that Contax G2. I know that when the Leica M8 came out, there was a lot of talk of a Zeiss Ikon Digital. Hasn't happened, but now there is the X-pro that borrows greatly from the Fuji MF rangefinder tradition.
