Hands-on with the Pentax K-S1
If you've been yearning for a camera that has pulsing green LEDs, the the K-S1 is for you. In most situations, they serve absolutely no purpose. If you're using the self-timer, the lights will 'countdown' the seconds until the photo is taken. When in live view with face detection turned on, the number of lights will correspond to how many faces the camera has found. The power switch lights up as well: green for stills and red for video (the front lamps remain green in movie mode).
Despite Ricoh's love of cameras that come in numerous colors, there's no way to adjust the color of the LEDs. And speaking of colors, the K-S1 will be available in several - inspired by fabric and 'night sky' - and won't have the long lead time of previous custom-colored models.
