Teleconverter for Nikon D700

I have a Nikon D700 body, 24-70mm lens, and a 70-200mm VR2 lens. I have a keen interest in sports photography and i would like to add to my kit to be able to get great photos at a greater distance. Since i already have a 70-200mm lens i think i should get a Teleconvert instead of a whole new lens.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which Teleconverter i would be better off getting? Or any other suggestions in general for my lenses?

At the moment all i am using is the 70-200mm lens and it does a decent job with photographs but i find the photos aren't as close or sharp as i would like. I am mostly photographing road bikes that are going extremely fast..
