Sanyo Japan has today announced the DSC-MZ1 digital camera which has a 2.1 megapixel CCD and a 2.8x optical zoom lens with an automatic cover. The MZ1 features a metallic case, optical viewfinder, 1.8" TFT LCD and supports CompactFlash Type I or II (including Microdrive). It weighs in at 280 g (10 oz) and is priced at 68,000 YEN (approx. US$550). It's not clear at this stage whether this is a domestic market (Japan) only model.

Phil: Sounds like the same lens as found on the new Toshiba PDR-M81, F2.8 - F4.8, 2.8x 35 - 98 mm equiv.
