Things we found stuffed down the back of CES 2014
The Polaroid Socialmatic takes another approach to the instant camera as compared to the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90. It clearly draws its style cues from the mobile world - the camera itself is shaped like an app icon rather than like a camera (though despite the resemblance, Instagram has no involvement with the project). Inside it holds a 14 megapixel sensor and a ZINK printer, outputting 2x3-inch prints from the side of the device.
The prototype on display at the show was a mockup, but the final product will run Android OS with Wi-Fi connectivity, and will have a 2 megapixel rear-facing camera. It's a modern approach to an instant camera, with a slightly different target audience than Fuji's retro take on instant.
